Purpose of Visit: The therapy dog visit is intended to provide comfort, support, and companionship to individuals in need, as requested by the hosting organization or facility. Scope of Activities: The therapy dog visit may include interactions with patients, residents, students, or other individuals within the hosting organization or facility. Activities may vary based on the needs and preferences of the hosting organization or facility. Safety and Well-being: The safety and well-being of all participants, including the therapy dog, handlers, and individuals receiving the visit, are of utmost importance. Handlers will ensure that the therapy dog is well-behaved, properly restrained (if necessary), and under control at all times during the visit. Health and Vaccination Requirements: The therapy dog must be up-to-date on all required vaccinations and free from any contagious illnesses. Handlers will provide proof of vaccination and health clearance upon request by the hosting organization or facility. Liability and Indemnity: The hosting organization or facility acknowledges that USA Therapy Dogs, Inc., its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and therapy dog handlers shall not be held liable for any injuries, damages, losses, or claims arising from the therapy dog visit, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct. The hosting organization or facility agrees to indemnify and hold harmless USA Therapy Dogs, Inc., its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and therapy dog handlers from any liabilities, damages, or expenses incurred as a result of the therapy dog visit. Code of Conduct: Handlers will conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner at all times during the therapy dog visit. Any inappropriate behavior or misconduct by handlers or therapy dogs may result in the termination of the visit at the discretion of USA Therapy Dogs, Inc. Confidentiality and Privacy: Handlers will respect the confidentiality and privacy of individuals encountered during the therapy dog visit. Personal information or sensitive details shared during the visit will be kept confidential and not disclosed without consent. Cancellation Policy: In the event that the therapy dog visit needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, the hosting organization or facility agrees to provide timely notification to the handlers. Handlers will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes in scheduling, subject to availability. Agreement to Terms: By requesting a therapy dog visit, the hosting organization or facility acknowledges and agrees to abide by these terms and conditions. Handlers also agree to comply with these terms and conditions during the course of the therapy dog visit. Modification of Terms: These terms and conditions may be modified or updated by discretion of USA Therapy Dogs, Inc. and their Board of Directors, as necessary to accommodate specific circumstances or requirements. By submitting a request for a therapy dog visit, the hosting organization or facility confirms acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Confirmation and Follow-Up Process for Therapy Dog Visit Requests

Upon receiving a Therapy Dog Visit Request, USA Therapy Dogs will initiate the confirmation process by notifying handler membership of the request details. It will then be at the discretion of the handlers to reach out and coordinate a visit with the requesting organization or facility. Handlers will endeavor to respond promptly and arrange visits based on availability and scheduling considerations.
